Finding Information and Getting Help
Ms.gov uses Google for its search. View Google’s Basic Search Help page for tips on how to make the most out of your searches.
If you are unable to find what you are looking for by using the search, you may use our Live Chat feature, which is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Live Chat allows you to ask an ms.gov operator to help you find information, online services or direct government contacts. The operator will point you to the appropriate state website or may provide a phone number for the best direct contact to assist you.
Please note: The ms.gov Live Chat operator cannot answer specific questions in place of official state agency or entity experts. See above for specific agency and state employee directories.
You may also email us.

Frequently Asked Questions
The text size feature does not remember my choice from page to page
Check to see if you have cookies turned off in your browser. Cookies are used to store user information that a web application can reference. ms.gov uses a cookie to store a user’s text size preference. If you have cookies turned off then this feature will not work. You will still be able to make the text size change on a per page basis without cookies. Due to the advanced features on the home page, the Text Size feature has been disabled on the home page.
Links to social media on ms.gov cause an error to display.
If you are accessing ms.gov from work, certain organizations block social media websites and will not allow links to them to display. Try accessing the site from your home computer to gain access to the social media links.
The site looks different in different browsers. Why?
ms.gov is built using the latest web 2.0 technologies such as html 5, css 3, and JQuery. Older browsers have less support for these technologies and may not display them as intended. ms.gov was built so that these features would degrade gracefully in older browsers, allowing the core site content to still be accessible. If you are using Internet Explorer 8 and content is not accessible, please email us and let us know which page is affected and how and we will do our best to address the issue.
Our best recommendation is to download one of the more modern browsers, such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge. Please note that Microsoft has ceased supporting Internet Explorer 10.
Search Help
- Search looks for exact, case-insensitive keywords; keywords shorter than a minimum length are ignored.
- Use upper-case OR to get more results. Example: cat OR dog (content contains either "cat" or "dog").
- You can use upper-case AND to require all words, but this is the same as the default behavior. Example: cat AND dog (same as cat dog, content must contain both "cat" and "dog").
- Use quotes to search for a phrase. Example: "the cat eats mice".
- You can precede keywords by - to exclude them; you must still have at least one "positive" keyword. Example: cat -dog (content must contain cat and cannot contain dog).
