Welcome to the Mississippi Museum Of Natural Science Camp Registration


This camp will engage campers entering grades 4th-8th in hands-on activities designed to increase outdoors skills and foster a love of nature. Activities will include fishing, fire building, hands-on lessons in forestry, herpetology, water ecology, and entomology. Please send campers with a lunch, two snacks, and a reusable water bottle daily. **There is no indoor facility for us to use. If camp needs to be rescheduled due to weather, we will add a session to Friday. BONUS: Campers may also choose to participate on Friday in an optional late night or overnight campout with an adult. Those who choose not to spend the night but wish to participate in night activities can be picked up at 9:30pm (or earlier by arrangement). Overnight campers must have an accompanying adult. The only food provided will be dinner Friday night and a light breakfast Saturday morning. If the overnight needs to be rescheduled we will make every attempt but cannot guarantee a makeup. The camper's entire family is welcome to join. We will need a final head count by Tuesday of camp.

Spotter's Discovery Camp for rising 5th and 6th grade students is an adventurous day camp for children to soar through fun nature activities! This "Eagles" group will have the opportunity to hike trails, explore wetlands, learn canoeing and archery techniques, make crafts, and experience various encounters with native wildlife. The Eagles will also have an opportunity to participate in an overnight campout at the museum the last day of camp! Please send campers with a lunch, two snacks, and reusable water bottle daily. Food will be provided for the campout.

Jr. Naturalist Camp is an intensive outdoor camp for rising 7th and 8th grade students. Camp runs 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day with the last day having an overnight field trip at Roosevelt State Park. Each day campers will have an opportunity to explore the great outdoors with state biologists and educators while learning about ecology and conservation. Jr. Naturalists will have the ultimate camp experience- hiking, collecting, exploring, swimming, and canoeing, while making new friends.

Students entering grades 9-12, are you interested in science, the outdoors, learning about your environment? Have you ever thought about spending the day with a researcher in the field? Well, if so, the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science's High School Field Camp is just what you need. Campers will spend the week in the Pine Hills and Planes of Mississippi's central region. Guided by research scientists, we will study Mississippi's native and endangered species such as black bear, bats, and gopher tortoises and discover fossils and other natural treasures. This camp is not for the faint of heart; however, it is truly a one-of-a-kind experience, providing a new perspective of what research scientists do daily. Come join us and explore Mississippi's beautiful habitats and amazing wildlife. Campers will be staying at Percy Quin State Park, in McComb, Mississippi for the duration of the week.
