Exam Scheduling Instructions

Please VERIFY that you have created your web account with your LEGAL name as it appears on your government-issued ID and that your personal information is CORRECT. Contact Mississippi Board of Cosmetology immediately to correct the spelling of your name or update your personal information if you notice any errors. It is very important that this information is correct, as it will appear as it was entered on the documentation provided to you after you have completed the exam, as well as on any reports to your licensing agency.


Appointments may be made up to seven (7) days prior to the day you wish to test, subject to availability. You must schedule your exam online.

All candidates wishing to take a Mississippi Board of Cosmetology exam must follow the process below. There will be no exceptions.

  • Step 1
    You must apply for your exam through the Mississippi Board of Cosmetology.
  • Step 2
    Students: Once you are approved and have received your approval letter from the Board, you can schedule your exam.
    UROLA Applicants: Once you are approved and have received your Temporary Work Permit from the Board, you can schedule your exam.
  • Step 3
    Students: You must bring the letter issued from the Mississippi Board of Cosmetology with you to the test center on your scheduled exam date. If you do not bring your approval letter from the Mississippi Board of Cosmetology, you will be turned away and your fees will be forfeited.
    UROLA Applicants: If your temporary work permit is not expired or has not been retained by State Board at a previous testing date, you must bring your temporary work permit with you to the test center on your scheduled date. If you do not bring your temporary work permit with you, you will be turned away and your fees will be forfeited.



About the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology

The mission of the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology is to regulate the instruction and practice of cosmetology and related professions by establishing rules and regulations relating to qualifications for licensure and procedures for the administration of examination prior to licensure, and by establishment of rules and regulations setting forth sanitation requirements for the operation of cosmetological establishments, for the benefit of the consumer and for the public health.
